about
This song is about loving art.
I grew up in a household that accepted image, creativity and art as driving, changing and transformative forces; and I have lived with the constant feeling that in a confused, compromised world: art cuts through
Written sometime in the early noughties - it is one of the last songs I wrote in the 'Blue Period' (!) when I picked up a guitar after RIDE split. I started off playing this on an acoustic guitar on my very rare solo shows, then got a chance to record it with a band later (International Jetsetters) around 2007.
I guess loosely rolling around in a synaesthesia of image and sound, this song points forward to happy times and is an aspiration to do greater and better things, whatever they are...
lyrics
Lyrics: "Come on painter, paint the sound, and I need your world around
I'm like you, I need to know.. and I got nowhere to go
So take me away to a place I believe, more than this world seems to be
I am the son of the sun that shines on... coming up, I will belong
I sing la, la, la, la
la, la, la, la, la
The light refracts into my mind; like a voice so clear and kind
And every mark you make, is given, for heaven's sake
Oh my painter make it now, for the world it turns around
I'm like you, I need to know... and I got nowhere to go
I sing la, la la la
la, la, la, la
In a Rothkö Red and Black
Sip it in and take it back
Oh its the difference that you make
In my life...
(Chorus)
la, la, la, la..."

Recorded with the band 'International Jetsetters'. Loz Colbert and Fi McFall (vocals), Mark Crozer (rhythm guitar), Paul Crozer (lead guitar) Bert Audbert (bass) Loz Colbert (drums).
Being a bass player myself, I fully support the notion of dispensing with fripperies like singers and guitarists! Joking aside, it's a lovely thing. Chrome Symphony is just absolute bliss. jobi1
